Places we miss: Spice Route Restaurant. Lagos/Port Harcourt

One Man’s Dream;

Pure passion coupled with a drive to succeed and an unquenching thirst for authentic and flavorful Indian food led to the creation of the brand; ‘The Spice Route Company’.

Shammi Malik’s unrequiting determination and culinary aspirations made him take the first step to realizing his dream of opening a “true to the flavors” Indian restaurant. The journey has been long and the origins humble. Being a restaurateur was an asset, as was the availability of a premium location. Then started the exciting process of concept design, interior, decor, uniforms and the heartbeat of it all – the menu. The first restaurant was a common, shared and informal space, all designed and executed in house. The secret of the success of “The Spice Bar”, as it was called then, was always the truly authentic Indian food it served.
