Just a few weeks ago at the wedding reception of Yomi Casual, the younger brother to star Comedian AY. Even though this dance move has it’s roots in Ghana, the craze found it’s way to Nigeria a few months ago using Instagram as a medium to go viral. Back in September Mega Producer and Mavin boss Don Jazzy posted a video on Instagram earlier of his team flocking to various areas of a studio to caress it’s corners with their pelvises. While this dance move really makes no much sense, the craze is every where and it’s best you are aware, possibly learn to dance it too just in case.
Dab:
Except you have been living under the rock, i bet you already knew about this particular dance move. DABBING over the last year has become a global craze with celebrities, politicians and even royals performing the dance in public. The dabbing craze sees people point one arm upwards towards the sky while also bowing their head into their other arm. Yes, that’s it. The trend is thought to have been initially started in Atlanta by rappers from the group Migos and a few other American artists. Even though this move has it’s origin thousands of kilometers over the sea, all thanks to Instagram Dabbing is now part of our lives and possibly a requirement while dancing.
Shoki:
Though the song associated with this dance may have gone under, the dance seems to still hold ground among fun lovers and club goers all around the Country. Shoki which is a Yoruba slang for getting down with the opposite sex or in one word ‘quickie’ has since its inception gone round like wildfire. Unlike other dance moves, the Shoki dance still makes waves a year after it’s inception.
Milly Rock:
Another trending dance move with origin for the United States, The Milly Rock dance move, even though has been in existence for some years now is still buzzing all over the internet as well as Musical videos from A-list artistes and Lagos clubs. Created by a Brooklyn native 2 Milly, the record has been picking up some major steam and people from all over the world including our own Nigeria have hopped on the dance move.
While learning any of these dance moves isn’t really a necessity, a simple search on Youtube would not be a bad idea as that would help you familiarize yourself with dance trends should you find yourself in a social gathering or club.
