Bars or Clubs: Top Reasons Lagosians Prefer Bars to Clubs.

With so much fun in the city of Lagos, it comes as a surprise that most people prefers bars to clubs, lounges or loud parties. Speaking to fun lovers around the city, we discovered a few reasons why most people would rather chill at a bar compared to clubbing the night out.

For a start, according to Toyosi, it’s too expensive, with taxis and alcohol to pay for Lagos clubs are not really worth her time she tells us.  Plus the clubs, especially on the Island are usually jam packed, with little or no space to freely dance without a guy trying to rub on you.

It’s a similar story for Adeola, 24, who says she went clubbing a lot while in school but now prefers chilling at a cozy bar. “Everyone needs a night out, but it doesn’t have to be in a club,” If i have to go clubbing then i would prefer the VIP section she says.

According to other correspondents, here are a few more reasons why bars are better than clubs.

You can actually have a conversation.

Asher, 26 thinks It’s amazing how much you can hear without one hell of a music blasting in your ear. While seated out in bars, you can have a discussion without having to shout your throats out.

There is no hierarchy.

Bars have no VIP section for the richest and most beautiful people. Everyone at the bar is equal another correspondent recounts.

There’s a chance you might actually meet someone.

According to Benedicta, the guy you meet at the bars has to accomplish something epic: He has to make conversation with you. If you two end up hitting it off, it’s because you’ve already connected on a level that goes beyond physical attraction.

You don’t spend stupid money.

With clubbing comes ridiculously overpriced drinks, clubs are absurdly expensive. Take a stroll to your neighborhood bar and see how much money you save Steven says.

You can wear whatever you want.

If you want to dress all cute and sexy to the bars, go for it. There will be enough people there pre- and post-clubbing to make you look normal. But you can also wear something light without having worries of being bounced.

With so much difference in opinion from various correspondents on the topic, clubbing could be fun if you plan your night out before you actually go. Depending on what aspect of the clubbing experience you don’t like, Nightlife.ng could be a really viable option while planning.

Take a few minutes, look up clubs that are fairly priced so you don’t have to be concerned with overpriced drinks or those where you could actually meet someone and have a honest conversation. If your major concern is taxi fare, we have also listed clubs with an all night taxi service which are actually affordable depending on your area of residence.
