Clubbing in Lagos this Weekend: Shisha Will kill you Faster than Cigarettes at the Club

Two weeks ago the Ministry of Health announced the banning of shisha’s around the country. The news was met with a mild protest from shisha lovers and owners of establishments where Shisha smoking is one of the profitable product line asides alcohol.

A shisha smoker takes about 80 puffs in a single session, while a cigarette smoker takes a 10 puffs. A single session of smoking shisha can give you as much nicotine and carbon monoxide as 10 cigarettes.

Compared to a single cigarette, shisha smoke is known to contain higher levels of arsenic, lead and nickel, 36 times more tar and 15 times more carbon monoxide than cigarettes.

In essence shisha smoke contains heavy metals that reduces your blood’s ability to carry oxygen and leads to clot formation which is a cause of heart attacks and stroke.
