Don’t Drink Champagne Until You Read this.

Champagne

According to available reports, Champagnes sells the most from October to December every year, In fact, about 40 percent of the French bubbly is sold within this period. In Lagos for example, chances are where two or more big boys are gathered in celebration, a bottle of champagne is in their midst.

With a bottle of champagne costing nothing less than a N100,000, most ballers and poppers still don’t know much about it, which means despite spending the cash, they really don’t know how to drink it either.

Here, then, are a few interesting champagne rules you probably have broken over and again plus a few tips to help you enjoy your even drink better.

  • Rule Number 1. Never drink your Champagne ice cold. Like wine, if Champagne is over-chilled the flavors are muted. To bring out its best characteristics, it should be drunk at about 8-10 degrees, and might be served a little colder on a warm day.
Champagne should always be served between 8°C and 9°C : To chill your bottles to perfection, place them in the lower part of your fridge for three to four hours or in a mix of water and ice cubes 30 to 50 minutes prior to opening them. Do not forget to add water as ice only will take much longer to bring bottles to perfect chilling temperature.

Champagne is under immense pressure. The average amount of pressure in a Champagne bottle is 70-90 pounds per square inch – that’s three times as much as a car tire, so be careful where you point it when opening!

Drink your Champagne Out Of A White Wine Glass: Traditional coupe glasses make champagne go flat and flavorless pretty quickly. To get the best feel, flavour and taste it is advised you drink your champagne from a wine glass or directly from a champagne glass.

Champagnes don’t need to be aged like wine. Saving that bottle of nice champagne you received as a gift from a friend? No need: “Most sparkling wines are designed to be consumed on release—from the wine store to your fridge and then into your glass. If you must store your champagne for another consumption, ensure to keep the bottles horizontally and don’t forget to use a metal stopper as one of those will save the contents for a few days.
