Elegushi Beach: Things You Should Never do there at Night

Elegushi beach is the most popular beach in Lagos. It rose to popularity after the Lagos Bar Beach was closed for the construction of the Eko Atlantic.

For those who love to go to the beach at night, here are some do’s and don’ts.

⦁ A beach is not a swimming Pool.
If a beach was a swimming pool, it’d be called a swimming beach. Elegushi beach is part of the Atlantic ocean, hence not swimming friendly. The waves hit the banks angrily and can sweep anything it finds on its wake back into the deep waters.
The water is even more dangerous at night since the lifeguards would have closed from 6pm in the evening. Added to the fact that there are less fun seekers to help you if you get into trouble with the water. We advise that you look for your inspiration somewhere else at night if you are one of those who gets inspired by the waves.

⦁ Keep Bikinis at home
When hitting the beach at night, it is important that you dress in proper beach wear attire. I’d advise that you go as far as wearing a sweatshirt beacause of the cold breeze blowing from the ocean. Don’t even consider going topless. Elegushi beach is not Miami beach!!Nudity is completely frowned at by the management of the beach.

⦁ Keep The Beach Clean
A lot of people complain that Elegushi beach is not the tidiest and the main reason why that is so is because a number of visitors haphazardly toss their garbage into the sand—or worse, the water. Unfortunately, careless trash disposal is harmful to marine life and it is unsightly. The beach may not be equipped with trash cans, but you can pack your dirt in a plastic bag and dispose of them when you get home. See the ocean as human. Do not disfigure it.

 Stick With Your Friends
Never go to the beach alone. I always advise that you go with your friends and stick with them at all times. If you have to go ease yourself, as someone familiar to go with you. Be wary of stranger offering unnecessary acts of kindness. Many a tale have been told of victims who have fallen into the hands of men of the night who take advantages of ignorant men and women.
