Precautions Ladies Must take when Attending House Parties in Lagos and Abuja

Schools are slowly coming to a close and summer is fast approaching. Soon house parties  will soon start popping off everywhere on the Island and the mainland. The attendance of ladies to this house parties is always in high demand.

We’ve put together different precautionary measures for ladies to live by:

  • Go out in groups and make a plan about getting home.
  • Google the organizers of the party before heading out.
  • Share the identities and contact details of the organizers with your parents, guardians and neighbours. Basically, someone who looks out for you.
  • Decide the number of drinks you will have prior to drinking and stick to it. Count the
number of drinks and spread them out over the evening!
  • Space drinks to one or less per hour.
  • Alternate alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and drink plenty of water.
  • Agree before you go out who will be the sober driver.
  • Watch your friends–if you came together and want to leave make sure they
have a plan to get home safely.
  • Avoid drinking games.
  • Always eat before and during alcohol consumption.
  • Remember: Women are more sensitive to the effects of alcohol.
  • Pour your own drinks–don’t share with others or set yours down.
  • Just because someone is your friend doesn’t mean you know them as well as you think you may–think about the situation and make clear decisions.
  • Have a designated driver.
  • Never drink and drive.
  • Never ride with someone who has been drinking or using drugs.
  • Say “no thanks,” if you don’t want to continue drinking, or just hold a cup with a non-alcoholic beverage.
  • Participate in activities like dancing, talking, and eating to take the focus off alcohol.
  • Stay away from dark and abandoned spots and rooms around and in the venue.
