As the Nigerian nightlife industry thrives and cocktail matures, so are its professionals the Bartenders. While this happens along with the normal aches and pains of aging, the compounding effects of long hours bartenders spends on their feet and repetitive motions increase your risk of them getting injured while on the job.
Below are a few useful tips to help bartenders stay safe and avoid getting injured while on the job.
Practice Prevention:
Sometimes, prevention is just common sense. Most times in clubs some bartenders can be seen carrying too much up and down the stairs or too many bottles in one hand. Prevention they say is better than cure, it’s advised you take multiple trips than risk an injury by lifting too much at once.
Get Comfortable:
Bartenders tend to spend too much time on their feet, one valuable advice any bartender can rececieve is not to spare any expense when it comes to comfortable shoes
Stay in Shape:
Being a bartender involves not just mental energy but physical strength too. Building muscle, taking walks as opposed to driving or just a few minutes run have definitely helped a few bartenders we spoke to stay in shape and fit for the fun but sometimes stressful task a bartender expects mostly on a Friday night.
Find Some Balance:
Again as a bartender, you are expected to work long hours more often than not. As a very physical and social job, bartending can really be demanding. While on the job, we strongly advice the need to listen to your bodies and find some balance.
