What can be said to be Akwa Ibom’s own version of the popular Calabar carnival, Ukapisua is a 2-day festive event packaged to showcase Akwa Ibom as the No.1 tourist destination for Nigerians and tourists from around the globe.
According to the write-up on the website dedicated to the event, the word “Ukapisua” means “the end and turn of a new year”. The event which according to the organizers was primarily designed to create entertainment and recreation while serving as a platform to market the huge tourism potentials and investment opportunities in Akwa Ibom State.
In clarification, the organizers did go a step further to state Ukapisua as planned will feature a STREET GROOVE and MEGA BEACH FIESTA. The Street Groove which happened yesterday December 26th 2017 featured Tiwa Savage, Wizkid, 2face, Tekno and Runtown , each performing on a groove truck alongside 5 five bands (Beachtown Band, The Bridge Band, Rolling Hills Band, Plaza Band and the Blue River Band) around the streets of Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital.
The Mega Beach Fiesta scheduled to hold today December 27th will feature performances from Phyno and Kiss Daniel, beach soccer, beach wrestling, beach volleyball, beach football and lots more, at the longest sandy beach in West Africa located at Ibeno, Akwa Ibom State.
Closing the campaign, the organizers did extended an arm of invitation to fun seekers and tourists urging them to Come to end the year in a grand style. Come to Akwa Ibom and experience peace, serenity and world-class cuisines.
