Locally made Nigerian drinks we love : Palmwine

What you need:

  1. Water (cool and hot)
  2. Sugar (castor or cane)
  3. Yeast
  4. Balloon (to check fermentation)
  5. Rubber band

Directions:

  1. Dissolve the yeast in warm water
  2. Add sugar and mix thoroughly
  3. Pour the yeast mix into the bottle with cool water, cover and shake gently
  4. Remove the cover, place the balloon on the rim of the bottle and push the rest of the balloon inside the bottle
  5. Store in a dark place for 48-72 hours
  6. After 48 hours you’d get a whiter solution with bubbles in it and the balloon would be inflated. You’ll also see some residue at the bottom
  7. Take off the balloon, cover then shake well.
  8. Enjoy your drink!
